Haskell County was once home to the former governor of Texas Rick Perry. This county is over 900 square miles with a little under six thousand residents that live within the county. There are a few state highways and U.S. highways that travel through Haskell County and the County seat is Haskell.

The county has been known to obtain artifacts from nomadic Indians and ancient burial sites and the buffalo, as well as wild mustangs, used to roam the area. After the buffalo, the ranchers dominated the area the cattle and sheep occupied the plains. Texas then became an area for ranching and farming. Corn was a crop that was grown in the region but cotton was the dominant crop.
