Top 10 Texas Accident Causes

Top Ten Causes of Accidents While Driving in Texas

Top 10 Car Accident Causes

The number one reason for accidental deaths in the Texas country is car accidents.  There are numerous reasons why car accidents occur.  The top ten are as follows:

  1. Distracted driving: Texting, eating, and drinking, as well as talking with other passengers are just a few of the reasons Texas drivers get distracted behind the wheel.
  2. Speeding: Traveling above the speed limit is an easy way to cause a car accident. The faster you drive in Texas, the slower your reaction time will be if you need to prevent an accident.
  3. Drunk Driving: When you drink and drive, your reaction time is slower than normal and your focus and judgment are impaired.
  4. Reckless Texas driving: While just about every type of unsafe driving could be considered reckless, this covers behavior such as racing, stunt driving, etc.
  5. Rain/Snow: The worse the weather gets, the worse the roads get.  Rain and snow can cause roads to become slick resulting in spin outs and skids if you have to brake abruptly.
  6. Running Red Lights: Running red lights runs the risk of causing wrongful deaths during side-impact collisions at high speeds.
  7. Running Stop Signs: Many rollover and side-impact collisions occur because a driver ran a stop sign.  Always look both ways before proceeding through a stop sign.
  8. Teen Drivers: Today's teens tend to text while driving.  Both their inexperience and distracted Texas driving create a great hazard on the roadway that results in accidents.
  9. Night Driving: Your awareness of dangers on the road is lessened when the sun goes down so you have to be more active about watching your surroundings when driving at night.
  10. Unsafe Roads: Some roads are in need of repair and the wear and tear on those roads can contribute to causing accidents.
