Rendering Aid

The operator of a vehicle involved in an accident resulting in the injury or death of a person or damage to a vehicle that is driven or attended by a person shall give: the operator's name and address, the registration number of the vehicle the operator was driving, and the name of the operator's motor vehicle liability insurer to any person injured. This could be the vehicle operator, occupant, or a person attending a vehicle involved in the collision. This is a really good reason to keep those extra napkins from your favorite fast food restaurant. There's no sense in wasting your good paper on people that collide their vehicles with yours.

The driver must also provide to any person injured in the accident reasonable assistance, including transporting, or making arrangements for transporting, the person to a physician or hospital for medical treatment if it is apparent that treatment is necessary, or if the injured person requests the transportation. It's probably not a great idea to get a ride to the hospital with someone who just rammed their vehicle into you, so just have them to call an ambulance for you.

If you get a ticket for for an auto accident, our Texas Defensive Driving Course can help you get that ticket dismissed!
